Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-11-08

These terms apply to SanctionsNorth at https://sanctionsnorth.fly.dev: its web pages, HTTP API, free demo endpoints and the companion MCP server package. It screens names of people, companies and vessels against public sanctions lists. By calling the API or paying for a request you agree to these terms.

1. The service

SanctionsNorth serves information derived from public government data sources:

Data is refreshed on a schedule and may be out of date, incomplete or contain errors from the source or from our processing. Each response says when the data was last fetched where that is known. Always check the official source before relying on a result.

2. Not advice

Screening aid only, not legal advice or a compliance determination. Results are fuzzy name matches against public sanctions lists: they can include false positives and can miss listed parties (unlisted name variants, ownership/control-based restrictions such as OFAC's 50% rule, lists not covered here). Confirm any potential match against the official list, using identifiers such as date of birth, nationality and address, before acting. You remain responsible for your own compliance decisions and obligations. Covers US OFAC SDN + consolidated non-SDN, UK Sanctions List, and Canada's Consolidated Autonomous Sanctions List (SEMA/JVCFOA). The EU and UN consolidated lists are not included yet.

3. Payment

Paid endpoints are paid per request in USDC on the Base network using the x402 protocol. Current prices are published at /pricing and in the API description (/openapi.json). No account or subscription is needed. You are charged only when a request succeeds (HTTP status below 400); invalid input and the error cases described in the API documentation are not charged. Payments are final blockchain transfers and cannot be reversed by us. If you believe you were charged for a failed request, open an issue at https://github.com/tendertrail/support/issues with the transaction hash and we will review it. Do not post anything confidential there: issues are public.

4. Acceptable use

5. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the requests giving rise to the claim in the 30 days before it arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on the service's output.

7. Licences and attribution

The underlying data remains subject to its publishers' licences listed above. You may use responses in your own products and workflows, keeping any attribution the source licence requires.

8. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continued use means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
